Clean Air Day – Thursday, 15th June 2023
Every year, air pollution causes up to 36,000 deaths in the UK. The UK Government and the World Health Organisation both agree that air pollution is the largest environmental health risk that we face today.
Companies can play a major role in raising awareness of the need for clean air; take action to improve the air quality in their premises mitigating the effects of pollution on staff, customers, and the wide community.
In 2023, the focus of Clean Air Day is mental health & brain conditions. Improving air quality is good for us not only benefiting our physical health but also in protecting our mental health. Increasing evidence shows that people who breathe polluted air are more likely to develop mental health and brain problems such as anxiety and depression.
It is vital to keep the indoor air quality safe for staff and customers. In just 8 hours a single bacterial cell can multiply to over 8 million. This means that health risks and odours remain a major problem, with standard room cleaning and disinfecting procedures only offering a temporary solution.
One simple, low-cost way to purify and sterilse indoor air is to use the HyGenikx Air & Surface Sanitation System. This innovative system removes harmful viruses, mould, fungi, and bacteria from the air and on surfaces, stopping their spread and minimising the risks of cross contamination, thus improving hygiene and cleanliness. HyGenikx covers a wide range of sanitation applications, including communal areas, kitchen and food preparation areas, toilets, changing rooms and bin stores. These compact wall units can be plugged into a standard electrical socket or hard wired and are continuous, operating 24/7.
