Is the Sunday Roast still as popular in 2023?
Brits take the subject of Sunday lunch very seriously. You will struggle not to find a Sunday menu featuring a Roast in the restaurants, hotels & pubs across the nation.
There’s nothing better than a Sunday Roast – perfect when meeting up with family, catching up with friends, nursing a hangover, or at the end of a walk or cycle ride.
Now not just a meaty affair, the trend continues for a more diverse offer. Whether for ethical, health or financial reasons many consumers prefer a vegetarian or vegan roast for their Sunday main meal. Due in part to the rising cost of meats, chefs are becoming more creative with vegetables to create innovative dishes packed full of rich flavours.
We are all aware of the challenges that currently face the hospitality industry. Operators need to look for ways to provide value for money to cater to the constrained diners budget and adapt to evolving customer needs. Eating out is still such an integral part of many of our lives. 45% of consumers consider eating out a fundamental activity in their lives. Around 2 in 3 UK adults (64%) said that despite the cost-of-living crisis, they would find it difficult to stop eating and drinking out, and 7 out of 10 people consider eating out the treat they most look forward to.
