Butcher shop equipment is specifically created to work with meat, you cannot rely on standard commercial kitchen equipment for a butcher shop. Here are a few of the pieces of key equipment that you may find the most useful:

Butcher block tables – Any type of butcher block table is an excellent piece of kitchen equipment for when serious tenderizing, chopping, slicing, and cutting of meat needs to be done, especially if regularly.

Like all commercial prep tables, butcher block tables come in a range of sizes. Some take up little room, whereas others could run wall-to-wall. The size of the butcher block table you select should fit well into your current kitchen, so ensure that you measure the space twice before settling on a size.

Most butcher block tables will have a wooden top or block, which is a great surface for increasing the longevity of kitchen knives, as wood will absorb the sharp blades and prevent blunting.

The block tables are usually made of stainless steel as it resists rusting, burning, and of course, staining. It is a 100% recyclable metal and pretty much indestructible. Meat grinders are the stars of the butcher shop.  Capable of grinding hundreds of pounds per hour. Grinding manually, while still valid, is an outdated option. For the best results, you should be using a commercial meat grinder.

Meat slicers help you achieve repeatable standards in your slice sizes and saves you valuable time versus hand slicing your meat. A professional slicer gives more reliable results than a regular knife and ensures the texture of the food isn’t affected by the pressure of a standard knife. Either manual or automatic slicers, give the user the option of adjusting the thickness of a slice. From super-thin pieces, to slices up to an inch. Also, these machines are not only used for slicing meat; you can use them for cheese or onions.

Bone Saws – Keep in mind that meat slicers are not suitable for cutting bones, in so doing you run the risk of harming the blades. Invest in a specialised bone saw to get the job done safely and properly.

Hamburger Presses – If burgers are on your menu, a burger press will make sure you get burgers with consistent portion sizes and help you avoid waste. A press gives you a clear idea of how many burgers you can produce and are easy to use and keep clean.
