World Day for Safety and Health at Work – 28th April 2023
The theme for the 2023 World Day for Safety and Health at Work is ‘A safe and healthy working environment is a fundamental principle and right at work’.
There are nearly 38,000 licensed food-led premises and over 57,000 drink-led premises in Great Britain. When people go to these types of establishments, they want to have a good time. What they do not want is to be made ill or injured by unsafe food and drink. Poor hygiene and unsafe practices, such as not cooking or chilling high-risk food sufficiently and cross-contamination, can cause food poisoning. Chilling food properly helps to stop harmful bacteria from growing. Some foods need to be kept chilled to keep them safe, for example: foods with a use-by date, cooked dishes, or other ready to eat foods such as prepared salads and desserts.
Commercial fridges offer food and drink storage and display at recommended chilled temperatures with enhanced capacities, durability, energy efficiency etc. Not only does refrigeration preserve the quality of the contents but also ensures optimum food safety.
Hand washing is vital in preventing contamination of food by food handlers. Harmful bacteria such as E. coli, Salmonella and Staphylococcus aureus and viruses (e.g. norovirus) present on the hands of food workers are removed by proper hand washing techniques. Commercial sinks should not be used for employee handwashing. It is important and legally required to provide hand-washing basins in a convenient location for employees.
We stock units with different features: standard models that mount to a wall (with tap options), knee operated units, mobile basin units with pedestal base (no main, no drain), handwash stations/ handwashing carts that include splashbacks, towel roll holder & soap dispensers.
